Introduction Mathematics Course
Our mathematics program includes Singapore Math and Math Competition programs, supporting students from foundational mathematics to advanced problem-solving and competition preparation. Through structured learning, students strengthen their mathematical understanding, logical thinking, problem-solving skills, and confidence.
Singapore Math uses the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) approach to help students progress from concrete objects to visual representations and finally to abstract mathematical concepts. Math Competition develops students’ logical thinking, abstract understanding, information-processing, and problem-solving abilities through topics including Algebra, Geometry, Probability, and Number Theory.
Singapore Math- Introduce
Math can be a source of frustration for many families, with dry symbols and complex definitions often making students lose confidence and interest.
Singapore Math takes a different approach. By making mathematics more practical, visual, and easy to understand, students are able to build strong foundations and develop confidence in problem-solving.
Why Singapore Math?
1. Effective CPA Teaching Method
Singapore Math uses the Concrete–Pictorial–Abstract (CPA) approach to help students move step by step from real objects to visual models, and finally to abstract mathematical concepts.Concrete
Students begin with familiar objects and real-life examples to understand mathematical relationships.Pictorial
Visual models, number bonds, and bar models help students see mathematical relationships clearly and develop strong number sense.Abstract
Once students understand the concept visually, they learn to use numbers, symbols, and equations to solve more complex problems efficiently. From Understanding to Problem Solving
The CPA method helps younger students overcome learning barriers while helping older students strengthen logical thinking and problem-solving skills.
Students learn to: Apply mathematical thinking to everyday situations
Turn real-life problems into mathematical models
Understand complex concepts through visualization
Develop efficient and structured problem-solving strategies
A Well-Designed Learning System
Singapore Math materials are developed by education experts with extensive classroom teaching experience. The curriculum is carefully structured to help students build a strong mathematical foundation.
The curriculum is carefully organized and progressively structured.
Each level includes supporting practice books and assessments.
Regular review helps students reinforce what they have learned and achieve better long-term results.

Studying competition mathematics is not about learning school mathematics in advance or repeating what is taught in school. Competition mathematics is designed to develop and cultivate students’ logical thinking ability, abstract comprehension ability, information-processing ability, and problem-solving ability. Ultimately, it strengthens students’ logical rigor, broadens the depth and breadth of their thinking, and enables learners to benefit throughout their lives.
Lorvale’s Mathematics Competition Program does not simply focus on repetitive and tedious problem-solving strategies; instead, it provides students with a set of effective learning methods. Mathematics competition topics fall into four major areas: Algebra, Geometry, Probability, and Number Theory. Under the guidance of Lorvale instructors, students deepen their understanding of each area and become proficient in applying different problem-solving methods. In doing so, they learn how to analyze problems and quickly identify the relevant concepts and the most effective approaches to solving them.
At the same time, mathematics competition problems are closely connected to everyday life and are engaging and interesting. The strength of Lorvale’s courses and instructors lies in helping students develop new perspectives on mathematics, discover the appeal and enjoyment of mathematics, and understand its wide range of applications and importance. Through this process, students develop a genuine love for mathematics, learn to appreciate mathematics, and enjoy having mathematics as a lifelong companion.

Club Introduction
Lorvale Academy’s Math Club (Mathematics Competition Program) is an important part of Lorvale’s premium academic competition programs. It focuses on preparation and advanced training for North American and international mathematics competitions. Through systematic competition training, the program aims to improve students’ logical thinking and problem-solving abilities, help students achieve outstanding competition results, and strengthen their applications to leading universities worldwide.
I. Core Advantages and Features
1. Officially Authorized Contest Centre:Lorvale is an officially authorized contest centre for the University of Waterloo mathematics competitions, providing official mock exams and competition venues at the Lorvale Main Campus and Oakville Campus.
2. Progressive Teaching:Courses are divided into different levels based on students’ grades and academic foundations (Prep, Levels 1–4), progressing from basic to advanced. The curriculum covers key topics such as algebra, geometry, probability, and number theory, with an emphasis on problem-solving techniques, mathematical thinking training, and strategies for tackling a wide range of competition questions.
3. Professional Teaching Team:Courses are taught by an experienced mathematics competition coaching team familiar with various competition topics. Targeted instruction is provided to help students develop effective learning methods.
4. Outstanding Results:Over the years, students have achieved excellent results in University of Waterloo mathematics competitions (Gauss, Pascal, Cayley, Fermat, Euclid, etc.) and AMC (American Mathematics Competitions), repeatedly earning global Top 1%, Top 5%, and various other awards.
II. Course Structure and Levels
Courses are divided according to students’ grade levels and competition difficulty, typically including the following levels:
Prep Level: For Grades 6–7, providing an introduction to competition mathematics and building a solid foundation.
Level 1: For Grades 7–8, corresponding to AMC 8 and University of Waterloo Grade 7/8 competitions.
Level 2: For Grades 9–10, corresponding to AMC 10 and University of Waterloo Grade 9/10 competitions.
Level 3/4: For Grades 11–12, corresponding to AMC 12 and University of Waterloo Grade 11/12 competitions (such as Euclid).
Note: Students are required to take a placement test before enrollment. The instructor will assign students to the appropriate level based on their test results.
III. Suitable Students
The program is mainly designed for students in Grades 6–12 who have a strong interest in mathematics, wish to participate in North American and international mathematics competitions (such as AMC and University of Waterloo competitions), and want to improve their mathematical thinking abilities.
IV. Institutional Background
Lorvale Academy is a well-known educational institution in Ontario, Canada, providing K–12 academic tutoring and competition training, and is committed to providing students with high-quality pathways for academic advancement.
