AIME – American Invitational Mathematics Examination<br>The AIME is an advanced mathematics competition for approximately the top 5% of AMC 10/12 participants. It is held annually in March and consists of 15 challenging problems, with each answer being an integer from 0 to 999.<br><br>Each problem is worth 10 points, for a total score of 150. AIME requires strong mathematical foundations and advanced problem-solving skills and is an important step toward qualifying for the USAMO.<br><br>Strong AIME performance can also be a valuable academic achievement when applying to universities such as MIT, Harvard, and Stanford.<br><br>Key Topics Include:<br>Advanced Algebra – rational functions, complex expressions, relationships between roots, and function properties<br>Sequences & Recurrence Relations<br>Geometry – coordinate geometry, triangle properties, and special figures<br>Number Theory – modular arithmetic, divisibility, and quadratic residues<br>Combinatorics & Counting – recurrence methods, inclusion-exclusion, and constructive approaches<br>Advanced Logic & Constructive Problem Solving<br><br>Competition Features:<br>All answers are integers. Mathematics Crash Contest
Lorvale’s Math Competition Program offers multiple levels for students from Grades 6–12, including preparation for AMC 8, AMC 10, AMC 12, Gauss, Cayley, and Fermat contests. Students complete a placement test before joining, and the instructor recommends the most suitable level.<br><br>Competition math is not simply advanced school math or repeated classroom practice.
